Why a School Exercise Training Officer? The School Exercise Training Officer came from a NH State mandate that requires schools to develop, exercise, and maintain a site specific EOP. New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management
FUNCTIONS OF THE SCHOOL EXERCISE TRAINING OFFICER Using the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) principles, the ETO will design and develop exercises and training to test the plan. Exercise Types Discussion-Based Seminar Workshop To familiarize players with current plans, policies, and procedures To provide an overview of new or current plans, resources, strategies, concepts, or ideas To achieve a specific goal or build a product (e.g., exercise objectives, SOPs, policies, or plans) Game To explore decision making processes and examine the consequences of those decisions Tabletop Exercise To assist senior officials in the ability to understand and assess plans, policies, procedures, and concepts Advanced Tabletop Tabletop Exercise with multiple components or a large number of players Operations-Based Test and validate plans, policies, agreements, and procedures; clarify roles and responsibilities; identify resource gaps Drill Test a single operation or function Functional Exercise Test and evaluate capabilities, functions, plans, and staffs of Incident Command, Unified Command, Intel centers, or other command/operations centers Full-Scale Exercise Implement and analyze plans, policies, procedures, and cooperative agreements developed in previous exercises New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management
