Programme Design (NMC 2018) Standards for Pre-Registration Nursing Education and influenced by reports and policy (NMC 2018 Standards Approval 16.1.20); Apprenticeship as defined by Skills for Health STO781; Acknowledges that nursing is a professional, practise-based and academic discipline; Aims to ensure the public are safeguarded and protected by developing compassionate, caring, autonomous, accountable and professionally responsible professionals. 2

Entry requirements – Supporting widening participation A minimum of 120 UCAS points tariff points; OR, 4 GCSE’s at grade 4/5 or above, which must usually include English Language and mathematics; OR, Nursing Associate Qualification; OR, Health Care Assistant Practitioner; OR, A Higher Education Certificate in Health and Social Care; AND, Key Skills Level 2 & Digital literacy. For students who are non-native users of English: Provide evidence of instruction and assessment predominantly in English throughout education; OR, Provide evidence of a recent IELTS or equivalent score of 7.0 overall, with a minimum of 7.0 for each component. 3

Theory weeks 1 – 34 Promoting Health and Preventing Ill Health (15 Credits) Professional Integrated Nursing Care Practice (15 Credits) Foundations of Integrated Health Science (30 Credits) Summative Assessment: Power point presentation Synopsis, Assignment & 3 hour unseen examination. Will complete all Summative Theory Assessments. Practice weeks 35 - 69 Practice Learning A (30 Credits) Practice Learning B (30 Credits) Summative: Practice Assessment Document, Ongoing Record of Achievement. Theory weeks 139 – 169 Management & Leadership in Practice (60 Credits) Summative Assessment: Dissertation. Will complete all Summative Theory Assessments. Practice weeks 170 – 208 Practice Learning E (30 Credits Practice Learning F (30 Credits) Summative: Practice Assessment Document, Ongoing Record of Achievement. BSc (Hons) Nursing 360 Credits BSc (Ordinary) Nursing 300 Credits including successful completion of Practice Modules BSc (Ordinary) Health Studies 300 Credits 6

NMC requirements To enable NMC Registration, Three (3) Drugs Calculation tests – each requiring an incrementally higher passing grade as follows: Stage 1: PASS 80% and this must be successfully completed before Practice Placement A commences; Stage 2: PASS 90% and this must be successfully completed before Practice Placement C commences and; Stage 3: PASS 100% and this must be successfully completed before Practice Placement E commences. Hours to be completed over the 4 year: 2300 Theory & 2300 Practice All hours are tracked and logged OH & DBS You are required to demonstrate professional behaviour in accord with the NMC 2018 Code & NMC Guidelines for responsible use of Social Media. This is documented in the Apprentice Learning Agreement. 7

Flexible and innovative delivery Apprentices will: Be taught by experienced Academics, Clinical Teaching Fellows seconded from partners, specialist clinicians and professionals; Access to a diverse range of contemporary online learning and formative assessment resources; Face-to-face – 6 hours per week Online classroom live – 3 hours per week Access to a range of digital learning opportunities and communication tools including, OCL, Teams, Adobe Connect, Clinical Skills NET, Online Medicines Management and Care Opinion and; Attend a comprehensive pre induction information session, induction and ongoing support to enable them to learn effectively, and to progress towards successful completion of the programme and registration. Supporting the Apprentice Learning journey Learning Support: Baseline literacy, numeracy and digital literacy tests prior to interview. Access to Learning Support in addition to Personal Tutor support. Aids to learning: A Medicines Management Log; A Therapeutic Knowledge Log; Clinical Skills Log to sign off Hub Simulation sessions completed; Encouraged to submit draft work for feedback prior to submission; Access all learning resources on the Hub and; Diverse range of exam revision resources for Health Sciences Exams. 9

General information Academic Results: Assignments: Unratified results and feedback are available within 7 / 10 days of submission. Unratified results are sent out to Partners when released to apprentices. Online Examinations: Results and marked papers available within 24 hours of completion. Unratified results are sent out to Partners when released to apprentices. Timetable: Apprentices receive a Timetable for each Stage before Induction. Annual Leave: Timetabled but scope to change. Current RNDA Progression RNDA October 2018 1st Attempt pass rates 100% Level 4 & 5 and progressing to Level 6. RNDA March 2019 1st Attempt pass rates 100% Level 4 and now studying Level 5. RNDA October 2019 1st Attempt pass rates 100% Level 4 Theory – and now in practice. RNDA October 2020 1st Attempt pass rates 100% Level 4 - 30 Credits to date. 12
