Course Entry Requirements Course Title Entry Requirements Pearson BTEC Level 4 (RQF) Higher National Certificate in Healthcare Practice FULL TIME Pearson BTEC Level 4 (RQF) Higher National Certificate in Healthcare Practice PART TIME Have evidence of competence in written and spoken English and Numeracy, equivalent to Level 2 certification in each subject of GCSE grade C; have attained at least 12 points at Level 2 or above (eg GCSE) or have alternative approved qualifications; Applicants should have attained a minimum of 64 UCAS tariff points (160 UCAS points under old tariff points system) achieved through the completion of A Levels, National Awards, Access or other alternative approved qualification. Have evidence of competence in written and spoken English and Numeracy, equivalent to Level 2 certification in each subject of GCSE grade C; have attained at least 12 points at Level 2 or above (eg GCSE) or have alternative approved qualifications; Have attained a pass in at least one GCE A level subject of equivalent Level 3 qualification. Applicants should have attained a minimum of 48 UCAS tariff points achieved through the completion of A Levels, National Awards, Access or other alternative approved qualifications and / or experience. Progression The HNC Course is made up of 7 units (one is a ‘double-unit’). Units include: Values and Principles in health and social care; Law, Policy and Ethical practice; Supporting the Individual through Integrated Health and Social Care; Fundamentals of Evidence Based Practice; Addressing Health Inequalities; Supporting Individuals with Specific Needs; Effective Reporting and Recordkeeping in Health and Social Care You will be assessed primarily through coursework assignments and your practical work within the sector [minimum of 225hrs over one year (full time) or 112.4hrs over two years (part time)] Former students are now working in Health and Social Services Trusts and in Voluntary Organisations in a range of roles

Course Entry Requirements - HE Course Title Entry Requirements Foundation Degree in Science, Health and Social Care Applicants must: (a) the university’s general entry requirements and (b) have attained grade A, B or C at GCSE level in five subjects or an equivalent standard in an approved alternative qualification and (c) provide evidence of competence in English language and numeracy (GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent– this requirement may be met within (b)) and (d) hold a BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or a related Level 3 subject area, or one GCE A Level pass or equivalent (with a minimum of *48 UCAS points). *Belfast Met may enhance the criterion according to demand OR as an alternative to (a), (b), (c) and (d): (e) provide evidence of their ability to undertake the programme through the accreditation of prior experiential learning. Course Content & Assessment Course Title BSc (Hons) Social Work Content The programme is for those who intend to work as professional social workers, and includes a substantial element of practice learning. You will undertake two contrasting practice placements - one of 85 days duration in Year 2, and one of 100 days duration in Year 3. The programme is recognised by the Northern Ireland Social Care Council for purposes of registration as a social worker. Although the programme includes underpinning learning in the social sciences, such as social policy, psychology, sociology and law, the focus of the programme is on the development of skills, values and knowledge required for practice. You must successfully complete a preparation for practice module (Year 1,Semester II) prior to undertaking supervised practice learning on placement. How is this course assessed?
