Academic Program Outcomes Master’s Degree- students submit application and required documents. Faculty Admissions Board reviews application packages and makes decision. Diploma- complete the academic program, standards not as high as for Master’s Degree. Certificate of Attendance- not the goal to aim for. 7 7

Master’s Degree Admissions Process The objective of our admissions process is to ensure that all students who are admitted to our master’s degree programs are appropriately prepared for academic success at the graduate level. Educational systems around the world are not the same, so the international students have a different admissions process than the U.S. students. Those of you who have previously earned a U.S. degree will be admitted similar to the U.S. students. Each college will have a Faculty Admissions Board to review all applicants previous academic history, career history, writing skills, and English proficiency. 8 8

Master’s Degree Admissions Process Application packages for the Faculty Admissions Board will consist of: Academic credentials- transcripts, diplomas & corresponding English translations Resume/C.V. that details prior career experience TOEFL score (as required) Writing assignment The Board will examine each applicant’s package and may choose to make an admissions decision based on the material presented. The Board may also decide that they need to interview the applicant before making an admissions decision. 9 9

Master’s Degree Admissions Process Preparing Your Application Package First, organize your academic transcripts/credentials and be sure you have the necessary English translations. Having these documents organized will help you as you complete the Application Form. Second, prepare your resume in chronological format. After you’ve organized your academic documents and translations, completed the application form, and prepared your resume, you’ll need to scan the academic documents if you don’t already have them in digital form. You will submit the application package by emailing all of these items to us. 10 10

Master’s Degree Admissions Process Submission of Application Package The deadline to submit this application package to our office will be 1 September. We will schedule virtual follow-up meetings as necessary if have questions or need to go over any of your documents. 11 11

Master’s Degree Admissions Process English Proficiency: 12 Registrar’s Office staff will provide one voucher code for the TOEFL- using this voucher will bill the cost of the test to NDU so that you do not have to pay for it. If you are required to take the TOEFL, you must take the test by 1 October. You may choose to take the Special Home Edition of the TOEFL or go to a testing center to take the test. If you have taken the TOEFL in the past 2 years and have earned a score of 83 or better, you will not have to take the test again. You will be responsible for ordering an official score report for NDU. 12

Master’s Degree Admissions Process 14 Writing assignment: each college will select a writing assignment from their curriculum. This assignment will also be reviewed by the Faculty Admissions Board to evaluate your writing skills, critical thinking skills, and written proficiency in English. The Faculty Admissions Board will determine which applicants must sit for an interview. In most cases, interviews will be conducted for any student who scores below an 83 on the TOEFL or whose educational history is not comparable to a U.S. bachelor’s degree. After the interviews are conducted, the Board will make admissions recommendations. Conditional admission: Board determines student hasn’t demonstrated sufficient background and English proficiency for full admission, but believes student has potential to be successful. 14
