GEORGIA’S EARLY COLLEGE INITIATIVE

Funding Secondary schools and postsecondary institutions must submit annual participation agreement to GSFC. Postsecondary institutions agree to accept the amount provided by GSFC as full payment for each MOWR student’s tuition, mandatory fees and books. The Postsecondary Institution receives: Tuition Standard undergraduate tuition up to 15 hours Mandatory Fees 50.00 per term Books 25 per semester hour

History 2014 Submitted application to USDOE (Missed by 2 pts) Summer 2016 Funding re-authorized and invited to re-submit Fall 2016 Georgia’s 1st State GEAR UP Grant Received notification of funding through 2023 (7 years) Winter 2016 Partnership Planning Kick-Off Meeting Spring 2017 Official launch of GEAR UP Georgia programming

Key Points Statewide scope proposing to serve approximately 11,000 high need students in approximately 40 schools in the neediest pockets of the state. Cohort model of the project will follow students from 7th and 8th grade through their first year of college (Cohort Students). Priority model will follow students from 8th, 9th,10th, 11th and 12th grade who have experienced homelessness or who have been in the foster care system through their first year of college (Priority Students).
