Proposal Rationale Executive and distance programs are increasingly popular. Online universities such as Phoenix, NTU, Jones attract significant student body from major companies. Would Purdue’s brand equity and expertise be attractive to companies in this regard?
Choice of Programs Weekend program – MSCS – 36 Saturdays at Purdue Executive MSCS – Six sessions on campus, two weeks each over 22 months. International Executive MSCS – International partners, 20 months. Distance Program – All lectures, curricular material online.
Management and Facilities Program manager – Recruiting, course assignments, scheduling, etc. Admissions – Coordination with departmental committees/ graduate school Facilities – Do we need additional/ dedicated facilities for distance offerings?
Course Content Must be of value to participants Content must be current and relevant Likely to be different from in-residence MS program Must be updated frequently Best faculty involved in content generation and instruction In general, must enhance Purdue’s industrial partnerships and reputation.
Involvement of Corporate Partners Would such a program be of interest to partners, in general? Would you sponsor your employees for enrollment into this program? At this stage, how do you see your involvement in this initiative?
Corporate Partners Would you like to be part of a focus group charged with: – Identifying feasible and desirable models of executive MSCS program (in-residence, distance, on-site/ near on-site) – Shaping curricula and policies – Need for specializations and flexibility – Work-related projects/ theses
Next Steps? Thoughts, action items.
