EPW HANDLING

SEGRAGATE Officer from enlisted Senior enlisted from junior enlisted Males from females Military association Why? Break up the chain of command Decreases ability to keep military effectiveness Prevent organizing in order to resist or escape
SAFEGAURD Protect EPW against further harm Other EPWs Friendly forces Enemy forces
SPEED Arrange transportation to higher headquarters Properly interrogate and process EPWs Removes prisoner from familiar surroundings Lower echelons don’t have the capability to handle EPWs

TAG All EPWs should be tagged ASAP 3 copies EPWs uniform via string or staple Forwarded to MAGTF holding facility/whomever takes custody Weapons or documents of the EPW
