Advanced Placement (AP) Courses AP English AP exams are in May. AP US Government and Politics Students are responsible for half the cost of the exam (approximately 47.50- billed with registration fees). AP US History AP Modern World History AP Biology AP Chemistry AP Environmental Science AP Spanish AP Art Students must take the exam if they are in the class. Most Colleges/Universities will give credit for scores of 3, 4 or 5 on the AP exam. Colleges/Universities have the right to not issue credit for AP tests. –No Guarantee Taking AP courses in High School, regardless of the earned test score, shows a student’s willingness to be challenged with rigorous courses.

Grade: 12 This is a 3 credit hour class only offered in the fall semester. Calculus (MTH135) –Requirements: Math SAT score of 620 OR MATH ACT score of 26 OR Nex-Gen ACCUPLACER QAS 257 & AAF 276 AND ELA SAT score of 480 OR Reading ACT score of 19 OR Nex-Gen ACCUPLACER Reading of 246. Students/Families are responsible for all tuition and fees. Students must be in good academic standing and meeting all their graduation requirements. Traditional Courses at Byron 2023-2024 Principles of Engineering (P.O.E.-PLTW) – This course helps students understand the field of engineering/engineering technology. Grade: 11, 12 Course Length: 2 Semesters Microbiology – This course serves as introduction to diversity of microbial world, particularly the bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoans. Prerequisite: Chemistry Grade: 11, 12 Course Length: 1 Semester Forensic Science – Students will learn the methodology needed to evaluate a crime scene, the proper lab mechanics needed to evaluate evidence. Prerequisite: Biology

RVC Dual Credit Courses at Byron 2023-2024 EMT Program Overview Full Year course, Tues/Wed/Thurs 1:15-3:00 pm at Byron Fire station. Mon & Fri Homework Completion time at Stillman Valley Fire station. Grade:12 Course Length: 1 Year This is a 9 credit hour class Pre-requisites: College level Math/Reading. Completion of Anatomy and Physiology with a C or higher or current enrollment in Anatomy and Physiology. Nursing Aide (NAD101)- A certified nursing assistant helps patients with direct health care needs, often under the supervision of a nurse. CNA’S may also be called a nursing assistant, a nurses aide, or a patient care assistant. Some responsibilities include: Moving patients, gathering medical supplies, bathing patients, feeding patients, documentation of food or liquid intake, checking vital signs, cleaning rooms and bed linens, stocking supplies, assisting with some medical procedures, safety procedures, transporting patients, taking care of wounds. Morning and afternoon classes. Some Saturdays in the spring around 10 hours. This is a 7 credit hour class.

RVC Dual Credit Courses at Byron 2023-2024 RVC Western Civilization (HST141) - History of Western Civilization II covers the evolution of Western people from the 17th century to the present. Grade: 11, 12 Course Length: 1 Semester This is a 3 credit hour class RVC Educational Methodologies(EDU224)- A Course for students interested in the field of education. Grade: 12 Course Length: 2 Semester/One year This is a 3 credit hour class The following criteria in order will be used if limited seats are available. Attendance Discipline GPA Lottery – if needed

RVC Summer Bridge Programs Program Offered: Health Sciences, Welding, Mechatronics(Robotics), Manufacturing, Cybersecurity and Engineering. Students must be 16 years of age by the time the program starts(rising Juniors, rising seniors, graduating seniors) Programs run June 20th-August 8th Monday-Thursday from 9 am -12:40 pm Cost: Free, Student tuition, textbooks, course/material fees, etc., are covered by a state funded grant. Priority registration deadline: March 13th

CEANCI – Regional Programs – Seniors only Cosmetology Educators of Beauty, 8:00-9:30 am-1:00-2:30 pm, Year Long Students must have their own transportation. March 1-31 fill out an online application at ceanci.org/programs Student must be in good academic standing and on track with graduation requirements. Tuition: 2,400 (May 5th) Fees: 200 payable at Educators of Beauty Orientation Meeting May 12th Deadline to withdraw from CEANCI Education Programs without penalty August TBD Date: The Cosmetology Orientation Meeting will be at the Educators of Beauty where you will get a tour of the school and meet your instructor; fees associated with these programs will be due at this evening.

RVC Course Guide for Fall 2023 will come out on March 1st. RVC sign-up forms will be due back around March 15th for enrollment in fall 2023 courses. HCC Course Guide for Fall 2023 will be available by April 6th. HCC sign-up forms will be due back in early April for enrollment in fall 2023 courses. Cosmetology registration is March 1st through March 31st.
