Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE) Recertification Process Maintaining Your CMTE Designation
How will I know when it’s time to recertify? CMTE Designation is valid for 3 years Monthly email reminders at the start of your third (and final) year of certification. CMTE expiration date is always the last day of the calendar year (e.g. 12/31/12).
How & When Can I Recertify CMTE Certification lasts for 3 years You can recertify at anytime during the 3rd year (and final) of certification Application and rules are available at www.aams.org
What are MEU’s and where do I get them? Professional credits earned within the 3 year certification period. Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) MTLI Graduate School (2012 – 21 MEUs) Completed MBA by the conclusion of the certification period
Professional Credits for CMTE Maintenance Five categories of MEU credits I. Continuing Education II. Graduate Level Education III. Volunteer Activities IV. Educational Contributions V. Memberships
I. Continuing Education 25 MEUs maximum Applicant must submit course objectives, outline, and proof of attendance. * 1 MEU per hour * 3 MEUs per ½ day * 6 MEUs per day A. AAMS Educational Programs Business/Management/Outreach Courses at the Air Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) AAMS Spring Conference and/or regional Workshops MTLI Graduate School B. MTLI (return to both Year’s 1 & 2 after certification) 30 MEUs C. Other Management Education Programs
II. Graduate Level Education 30 MEUs maximum Advanced Degree (Masters or PhD) Management-oriented programs MBA, MHA, MPM, MS in Organizational Development MS in Health Administration Degree must be awarded within the three years of the current certification/recertification to qualify towards subsequent recertification.
III. Volunteer Activities 10 MEUs maximum 1 MEU per year of participation AAMS Committees Chair on AAMS Committees Member of the Board, AAMS Participation in an industry-wide, legislative or regulatory activity approved by a Medical Transport Industry Organization
IV. Educational Contributions 10 MEUs maximum 1 MEU per document Author, published article in industry journals per article & other literary contributions Speeches, lectures, and other educational presentations on industry matters
V. Memberships 5 MEUs maximum 1 MEU per organization per year Membership in a professional or trade association/organization directly related to medical, aviation, or business concerns. Credits can only be earned since the date of original certification or your last recertification date.
