Budgeting Helpful Hints Aim High The Devil is in the details. Anything that is not under your control, check twice. Revisions are your friend. Have a back-up plan. How much is a good contingency in a budget? You can only spend your budget balance carry-forward once. Be consistent. Never second guess the legislature. Don’t ever cut copy paper, toilet paper, or pencil budgets. Never assume anything. Brevity is the Soul of Wit.
